Friday afternoon. I was sick and not able to come to the office to pick it
up. When I saw it on Monday, I was so pleased with it. It is exactly what I

involved in their decision, it is wonderful to know we gave them something

Dear Ugo shalom,
Thank you so much. I searched high and low in Israel for the same artist that
my partner, E. L., had her name plate written by, so we could have matching
ones. Low and behold it was you. I found you and your website inscribed on
an art piece at the GANS.CO.IL storefront in Jerusalem, and I recognized your
work. How lucky am I? Anyway, your work is beautiful, and since we share an
office, we will have our matching nameplates on our office doors now. I am
so happy about that I can't thank you enough. It really topped off my trip
to Israel to find you while I was there and to be able to order it online just
before I left on the plane to return to the U.S. was so wonderful.
Before I found your work, however, I had bought some beautiful Armenian tiles
and had the shopkeeper inscribe those tiles for our three other office doors,
including restroom, private and conference room. Unfortunately, she did it
so quickly with permanent marker, I'm sad to say I wasn't pleased with the
outcome. I guess in the back of my mind, I had hoped they would look like you
had done them.
The tiles are beautiful though so I hate to waste them. I was wondering whether
you are available to re-inscribe them for me? I will completely understand
if you cannot because part of your business may be selling the beautiful tiles
you make along with your handsome calligraphy. But, if you think the permanent
marker can be removed and the tiles re-inscribed, and you would be willing
to do so, I would be more than happy to ship them to you and pay you to redo
them. Let me know what you think.
Thank you again for taking care of my order so quickly. I am thrilled to have
found you. I plan to order a name plate for our home as soon as we settle back
home and have time to give some thought in choosing the style we want etc.

Dear Ugo,
Thank you for your kind offer to make a new tile for Alef. However, I cannot
really ask you to do that. When my husband measured the holes, they turned
out to be off by only one-sixteenth of an inch! I held the tile up and tried
to determine why the holes don't look right. (My husband thinks it is more
noticeable because there are different pictures on the two sides of the tile:
the windmill on one side and the shivat ha-minim on the other.) But it doesn't
bother him, whereas my eyes are drawn to the sides of the tile and I feel that
the holes sort of ruin the design. But next time, I will make very sure to
put in special instructions saying "without holes," as you suggested.
On the positive side, the lettering was beautiful and I very much liked the
vibrant blue color on the tiles. I would certainly consider giving this gift
again.
