Background Layer

An outstanding method for increasing readability of metal plaques

By choosing the Add Background Layer option when ordering a metal plaque you significantly increase the contrast, thus increasing the readability, especially on a light colored wall or fence.
Especially at night, even where the street lighting is weak, the addition of the background layer will make a big difference.
In the event that the plaque is mounted on a dark surface, the addition of a background surface is not necessary, and the consideration is only aesthetic. For background layer color you can select any dark color from the list on the order page, although the most effective is of course Black.

Readability is not only enhanced by the use of contrasting colors but also by the presence of internal shades along the border of each letter which are formed by the thickness of the metal.
For the sign itself (the upper plate including the hollow letters) you’ll be able to pick from a list of bright colors.
You can order the background layer to create a frame around the sign, or to be hidden around its shape remaining visible just through the letters (not creating a frame).
You can add a background layer to almost all models of metal signs – in some, there is only the hidden possibility.
